Who we are
About us
AboutSexToys.com is an education-first guide to pleasure products. We explain how things work, compare the details that matter and help you narrow the choice.
Why we exist
Shopping for pleasure shouldn't feel like guesswork
Most of this industry still sells on innuendo and stock photography. Materials go undisclosed, specifications are vague, and reviews often repeat marketing copy without explaining the trade-offs that shape a real decision.
We built AboutSexToys.com to fix both halves of that problem. First, useful education: what each category actually does, which bodies it tends to suit, and the trade-offs nobody mentions. Second, a focused product range that brings the available materials, measurements, care and compatibility details into one place.
Pleasure is part of health and well-being. It deserves the same standard of information you'd expect from a good skincare or supplement guide—accurate, inclusive and respectful.

What we stand for
Four things we won't compromise on
These principles decide what we stock, what we recommend and how we write about it.
Education before checkout
Every category starts with a plain-language explanation: what it does, who it suits, what it feels like and when it isn't the right pick.
Materials named, trade-offs explained
We prioritize clearly identified materials. When a product uses TPE, TPR or another porous material, we explain what that means for care and longevity.
Judgment-free by default
No coy euphemisms and no assumptions about your body, gender, ability or relationship shape.
Fewer, better choices
We narrow a large catalog to products with enough useful information to compare honestly, then give you filters that make the choice easier.
How we review
Every scored review follows the same four steps
A pick is never scored from a product title or sales claim alone.
- 01
Spec review
We start with the available material, measurement, power and safety information, then flag anything vague or contradictory.
- 02
Practical evaluation
We consider how the shape, controls, power, care and compatibility affect everyday use—not just how impressive the feature list sounds.
- 03
Comparison against the shelf
Nothing is rated in isolation. Each reviewed pick is compared with the closest alternatives in its category and price range.
- 04
Review & re-check
Guidance is fact-checked before publishing and revisited when a product is revised, discontinued or a safety issue surfaces.
How we rate
One scoring framework, applied to everything
Products are scored out of 10 across four weighted criteria. The weighting never changes between brands, and the reasoning behind every score is published with the review.
Materials & safety
30%Material disclosure, non-porosity, phthalate-free construction, seams and finish quality, waterproof rating, and charging safety.
Ergonomics & fit
25%Weight, reach, grip, handle angle and how the shape performs for different body sizes, hand strength and mobility.
Performance
25%The documented stimulation method, intensity range, controls and whether the feature set makes sense for the intended use.
Care & longevity
20%Cleaning effort, lubricant compatibility, charging details, replaceable parts and warranty terms.
A high score cannot make up for unclear materials, poor fit information or impractical care. Those gaps are reflected in the review and its recommendation.
Unbiased by design
How we keep reviews independent
We earn money when you buy through the site, and we think you should know exactly how that works—and exactly where the wall between commerce and editorial sits.
- Commercial relationships are disclosed on the page where they are relevant.
- Brands do not approve scores, rankings or editorial conclusions before publication.
- Scores are based on the same published criteria, regardless of brand or price.
- Limitations belong in the review, even when we also sell the product.
