Privacy policy

A clear account of the information involved when you browse, save products, contact us or complete an order—and the choices you have over it.

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This policy explains how AboutSexToys ("AboutSexToys," "we," "us" or "our") handles personal information in connection with aboutsextoys.com, our editorial content, customer support and the shopping journey. "Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked with you or your household.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the AboutSexToys storefront, guides, product finder, saved-product tools, email communications and messages sent to our team. It does not replace a privacy notice shown by a separate service.

When you continue to checkout, the checkout page identifies the seller and the services processing the transaction. Their notices also apply to the information they collect to take payment, fulfill the order, prevent fraud and provide delivery updates. A link to an outside website, social network, carrier or brand is governed by that service's own privacy practices.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Checkout and order information: name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, selected products and variants, order value, shipping choice, payment status and transaction or order identifiers.
  • Payment information: the payment provider collects the information required to authorize payment. We may receive limited details such as payment status, payment method type and the last digits of a payment card, but not the full card number or security code.
  • Messages: your email address and anything you choose to include when contacting customer care, editorial, privacy or partnerships. Order support may require an order number and delivery postcode so we can locate the purchase.
  • AbbyAI conversations: questions you ask and answers AbbyAI provides, together with the page you were viewing and products or guides recommended. We remove common direct identifiers before encrypting a retained conversation. Please do not put names, contact details, addresses, payment information, medical records or intimate images into chat.
  • Email preferences: your email address, consent record and subscription choices when you ask to receive our newsletter. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email.

Information collected when you use the site

  • Device and request information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, requested page, referring page, timestamps and technical identifiers recorded by our hosting, content-delivery and security systems.
  • Store activity: pages and products viewed, searches, broad interaction and performance information, and how you arrived at the site when analytics is enabled with the required choice or consent.
  • Browser-saved choices: age confirmation, bag contents and identifier, wishlist and comparison products. These are stored on the device and browser profile you use. See Cookies and browser storage for details.

Information received from other services

We may receive order status, stock, product, delivery, fraud-prevention and support information from our commerce platform, checkout provider, payment provider, fulfillment partners and carriers. We may also receive aggregated measurement reports from an analytics provider. We do not seek information from data brokers to infer your health, sex life or sexual orientation.

Information that deserves extra care

Visits and purchases on a sexual-wellness site can be sensitive even when they do not reveal a medical condition, sex life or sexual orientation. We use product-view and order details to provide the store and transaction, not to make unrelated sensitive inferences. Please do not send medical records, intimate images, passwords or full payment-card details by email.

How and why we use information

  • Provide the store and fulfill the transaction: maintain the bag, validate products and prices, create checkout, take payment, fulfill and deliver the order, process a return or warranty issue, and send service messages. Where applicable, this is necessary to perform a contract or take steps you request before purchase.
  • Support you: answer order, product, accessibility, privacy and editorial questions, and keep a record of how an issue was resolved.
  • Provide and improve AbbyAI: answer product, guide and store questions; preserve short conversation context; review encrypted, time-limited conversations for quality, safety and recurring information gaps; and prevent abuse. AbbyAI provides general education rather than medical advice.
  • Operate and secure the site: diagnose errors, prevent abuse and fraud, protect checkout, maintain availability and enforce our terms. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable service where that basis is recognized.
  • Measure and improve: understand site performance and which pages are useful, using aggregated or minimized information where practical. Non-essential analytics are used only with the choice or consent required where you live.
  • Send email you requested: deliver the newsletter and measure basic delivery or engagement. We rely on consent where required, and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful use.
  • Meet legal obligations: keep required business records, respond to lawful requests, handle disputes and protect the rights and safety of customers, the public and our business.

We do not use solely automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect about you. Automated security checks may flag a transaction for review, but the checkout provider controls any payment or fraud decision it makes under its own notice.

Who receives information

We disclose information only as needed for the purposes above, including to:

  • Commerce and checkout providers, including Shopify and the AdultShopping checkout service, to supply product data, maintain the bag, validate availability and complete an order;
  • payment, fraud-prevention and identity providers selected in checkout;
  • fulfillment partners and carriers that pack, ship, track and deliver an order;
  • hosting, content-delivery, security, email and analytics providers that operate services for us under contractual restrictions;
  • professional advisers and authorities when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, insurance, security or compliance purposes; and
  • a successor or transaction participant if the business is reorganized, financed, merged or sold, subject to appropriate confidentiality safeguards.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or process it for targeted advertising based on activity across unrelated businesses. If that practice changes, we will update this policy and provide the legally required opt-out before using the information that way.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to complete orders, provide support, maintain security, satisfy tax and accounting requirements, enforce agreements and resolve disputes. The period depends on the information:

  • browser-saved age, wishlist, comparison and bag information remains until you remove it, clear site data or the relevant commerce session expires;
  • newsletter information remains until you unsubscribe, after which a limited suppression record may be kept so we respect that choice;
  • support messages remain while the issue is open and for a reasonable period afterward; and
  • AbbyAI conversations are encrypted and retained for no more than 30 days unless you use the chat's delete control sooner; private mode is not retained by the server or in browser storage; direct identifiers detected by our filters are removed before storage, and expired conversations are automatically deleted; and
  • transaction records are retained for the periods required by tax, accounting, chargeback, warranty and consumer-protection rules.

We use administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted transmission, access controls, service-provider review and collection limits. No online service can promise absolute security. If you believe information connected with the site has been compromised, contact us promptly.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have the right to request access to or a copy of personal information, correct inaccurate information, delete information, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or receive portable information. Some US state laws also provide rights to know the categories, sources, purposes and recipients of information; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling; limit some uses of sensitive information; appeal a denied request; and receive equal service for exercising a right.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is currently no sale or advertising-sharing activity to opt out of. Where legally required, we will also honor recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals for any covered processing.

How to make a request

Email privacy@aboutsextoys.com with the subject “Privacy request.” Tell us the right you want to exercise and the email address or order details needed to locate the information. We may ask for limited information to verify the request and prevent unauthorized access. An authorized agent may submit a request where the law permits, but we may require proof of authority and direct identity confirmation.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted reason we cannot fulfill all or part of a request. If a law gives you a right to appeal, reply to our decision with “Privacy appeal” in the subject. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.

EEA and UK residents

If EEA or UK data-protection law applies, you may also complain to the supervisory authority where you live, work or believe a violation occurred. You can object at any time to direct marketing and, in some circumstances, to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time where consent is the legal basis.

International processing

Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws from your own. Where required, transfers are supported by a recognized legal mechanism and appropriate contractual or organizational safeguards. Contact us if you need more information about safeguards relevant to your information.

Adults only

AboutSexToys is intended for adults aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, email us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date shows the latest revision. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.
