External, internal and blended stimulation, explained
These labels describe where a product is designed to work—not what your body should prefer. Here is how I use them to narrow a choice without turning anatomy into a rulebook.

External stimulation is broader than one body part
External means the product is used outside the body. That includes clitoral and vulval stimulation, but it can also include the penis, perineum, nipples and ordinary body massage. A bullet, wand or palm vibrator can move between areas in a way that a highly sculpted product cannot. I often recommend an adaptable external shape to someone who is still learning where pressure feels welcome.
Contact area changes the experience. A narrow tip concentrates sensation while a broad wand head spreads it. The amount of pressure you apply can matter as much as the motor. If you dislike a pinpoint feeling, the answer may be a wider surface or using the product through underwear—not simply turning the intensity down.
Internal stimulation is usually about angle and pressure
Insertable products can add fullness, movement, vibration or targeted pressure. For vaginal use, G-spot-focused toys generally use a curve or fuller tip intended to press toward the front wall. For anal or prostate use, choose a product specifically designed for that purpose, with a flared base or another retrieval feature that prevents the whole product from moving inside.
Do not let total length dominate the decision. Insertable length, maximum width, firmness and the shape of the tip tell you more about fit. A rigid curve can be precise but less forgiving; a flexible shaft can adapt to movement but may take more hand pressure to direct. Neither is an automatic upgrade.
Blended products try to coordinate two sensations
Rabbit vibrators and other dual-stimulation products combine an internal shaft with an external arm. The promise is convenient, but bodies are not built to one set of measurements. The distance and angle between the two contact points determines whether both parts land where intended. Flexible arms and adjustable shapes give you more room to work, but no photograph can guarantee alignment.
Blended stimulation can also mean pairing two separate products. A compact external vibrator with a manual dildo gives each hand independent control over placement and pace. It is less tidy than a single object, but sometimes much easier to adapt. I would rather acknowledge that trade-off than imply that one rabbit shape is the natural final destination.
Use the labels to ask better questions
Once you know the general area, ask about sensation: vibration, air-pulse, pressure, texture, thrusting or rotation. Then consider position, grip, controls, noise, lubricant and cleanup. Those practical details are what turn a category into a product you might actually use.
Preference can change from one day or context to another. You do not need to identify as an external-stimulation person or work your way toward internal play.
